How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media product is probably going to attract young adults and general fans of Hip-Hop, my magazine would be more likely should in specialist music shops therefore attracting a more inner city audience rather than people from the country.
I would be more likely to appeal to young aldults and teenagers as it does include swearing and talks about issue's such as drugs and guns. It would be un suitible for a younger audience because of these things.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and Why?
The media instution that might publish my music magazine would probably be a subsidary company of already established Hip-Hop magazines such as XXL or Vibe magazine.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
My target audience are Hip-Hop/Rap fans who like more specialist rap such as "gangsta rap" rather than mainstream rap. I chose to have a more specialist focused target audience because i felt i knew more about "gangsta rap" rather than a more mainstream style of rap.
How did you attract your audience?
I attracted my audience by looking magazines such as Q, Vibe and XXL magazine, these helped me to see what the fans of my music genre like. I then made an audience portfolio using this information, and this helped me pick ideas to attract my target audience of Hip-Hop fans.
: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During the construction of my media product i have learnt a great deal about technologies, i have learnt how to succcessfully use Photoshop to edit pictures and design a music magazine. I have also learned how to use Blogger.

This is a style model for my double page spread.
The main image will take up the majority of the double page spread, i will have a quote next to the main image to attempt to draw the reader in.
The colour will be very similar as black and gold are the main colour theme that i have used throughout my magazine.

Overall i feel my college magazine could of been improved in a number of ways. The first thing i could of changed is the layout on the page. My caption "You're never too cool for S'cool" could of been placed under the title of the magazine. This would of made it more professional.
The other caption"And its free" could of been placed above the barcode and also been smaller to allow more space.
I also could of had a colour scheme, if i would have had used red for my font throughout it would of matched my contents page, this would of made my magazine look more professional.

My contents page has a bright style to it, by having a bright style i made my magazine stand out.
The words on the page are in contrast with the main colour scheme of red. I did this to again make sure the words stood out from the background.
The picture in the bottom right hand corner is of an owl with books. I decided to have this in my magazine for humour, and also to break up the words on the page and allow the reader to be engaged.
I decided to have the main image as a girl with a book. I decided to do this as it would be more school like.
The captions on my magazine are relevant to the school theme. It is free because i think students wouldn't buy it if it cost money.
I decided to use the caption "Is school necessary" as it would add humour to my magazine, and again making it more appealing to the students who would be reading it.

My music magazine will be called Beatz. It is a Hip-Hop/Rap magazine so the "beatz" are a big part of it.
The front cover of my mock up, shows a rapper with his middle fingers up. I decided to do this because it shows attitude which plenty of rappers have. That is the main theme of my magazine, attitude and thug like rappers.

Secondary images: Used on the front cover to promote other featuresin the magazine.
Often used when readers need to be enticed into buying the magazine.
Coverlines: Located at various points on the front cover telling the readers about various contents in the magazine. Front cover often has 6-12 coverlines in an attempt to lure different readers into different things.
Mode of address: This is a way for magazines to communicate with the readers.

A Mast Head is the title of a magazine. It's always at the top because it is the first place you look, and on a magazine rack it is all that would be showing so the public would be able to see it. The font is also choosen in accordance with the genre of the magazine. A girly magazine is going to ave swirly firty style writing wheras a magazine for computers is going to be quite basic and have a standard font. The colour of the magazines writing also allows the reader to determine what sex the magazine is aimed at. Pink is more likely to be for girls and blue for boys etc..
A tagline goes near the masthead it will normally show what the magazine is about.
The central image is one of the most important parts of the front cover it catches readers eyes befor text. The central image will be relevant to the magazine's purpose and audience, and will often be related to the feature article.

I chose a collection of different Hip-Hop magazines, this is my chosen music genre for my music magazine.
Vibe magazine is my first magazine, Vibe is a music and entertainment magazine founded by producer Quincy Jones. The publication predominantly features R&B and hip-hop music artists, actors and other entertainers.
XXL magazine is a predominatley rap based magazine, focusing on America's rappers, particulary up and coming stars.
The Source is a United States-based, monthly full-color magazine covering hip-hop music, politics, and culture, founded in 1988. It is the world's second longest running rap periodical, behind United Kingdom-based publication Hip Hop Connection. The Source was founded as a newsletter in 1988. The current president of the publication is Jeremy Miller.
